Semi-flat figures

Metal figures usually home made from metal or rubber molds

Some years ago when visiting Belgic, I bought a box from «Meisterzinn» company, with some molds to make metal semi flat figures. Over the years I have bought other figures in flea markets around Lisbon.

Meisterzinn

This German company makes metal molds to produce lead figures.

These are Meisterzinn figures made with the mold number 1323 with different heads. They were glued to wooden bases to increase stability.

These musicians were originated from mold number 1332, with different musical instruments and different heads. Notice that some arms were bend (left and right figures) to better support the musical instrument.

One theme of this company is the 30 Years War. This are most colorful figures. I decided to glue on wood bases because they are really big figures.

Schneider

The figures made with this company molds have a characteristic hexagonal base.

German soldiers from last years of the XIX century. The fourth figure was glued on a wood base. Painted by me.

More soldiers in the characteristic marching pose.

Basic similar poses with different heads. Still German soldiers. Painted by me (don’t know if colors are correct…)
Firing figures (Prussian-French War of 1870 ?). A problem of molding let the prone figure with a short rifle.
A running pose varies from the marching ones.
This figures had a very distinct style, being rather chunky. I´m not shure of the maker but the shape of bases points to Schneider.
This musicians are taller then the previous ones at approximately 65mm height. As the figures are tall and the original bases are not large, they were glued on squared bases.
