Carthaginian Army

Carthaginians were a people that were the most fierce rivals of Romans for the domination of the Mediterranean. In spite of this evidence, there are not many figures representing this army.

CTS – Classic Toy Soldiers

Carthaginian in Combat

This company made a small set of Carthaginians and it´s allies. The figures are a bit flat but the command figures are very nice.

The command figures include a General in a less convincing pose and two standard bearers.

The two first figures are Iberian allies and the other are heavy infantry from North Africa.

The first figure is light infantry from Iberia with his small shield.

9020 – African Infantry Carthaginians (c) 1998

The soldiers of this box are from the heavy infantry type, equipped with big round shields and body protection.

Albeit a bit flat as other productions of this company the figures have dynamic poses and are nicely sculpted.

9120 – Carthaginians Light Infantry (c) 2006

Half figures represent descendants of migrants from the middle east and the other figures are Numidian allies with round shields.

I choose to paint the tunics with stripes but I’m not sure that this is historically correct.

9212 – Carthaginian Veteran Infantry (c) 2008

As with other references from this company the sculpture is a bit chunky. As usually I changed some arms orientation to increase pose variability, as the first two figures of each photo.
